The truth about being hungry.
The million dollar question… is fasting best for weight loss?
Firstly, let me explain what fasting is before I tell you if it’s best for weight loss.
Fasting, put simply, is not eating.
That’s it!
Some people won’t eat until 12pm each day…
Many people will eat 500 calories on one day, and whatever they want on another…
Others will go days, weeks and even months without eating! DO NOT DO THIS!
These are all examples of fasting or… not eating.
You get the idea.
Now, is fasting best for weight loss?
Not necessarily.
To lose weight, we know that we must be in a calorie deficit.
This simply means, burning more calories than you’re consuming.
Basic science.
Now let’s say, that to create a calorie deficit for your height, weight, age and activity level, you need to consume no more than 1500 calories per day.
Some people might struggle with this and go over. By dinner time, they’ve consumed 2000 calories…
This individual would struggle to lose weight if they kept this consistent.
Now, this is where fasting can help to overcome this.
Fasting for periods in the day WON’T make you lose weight.
All it will do is shorten the window of time in which you have to consume your calories.
This can help you to stay within your calorie target.
Lets say for example that your breakfast is 500.
You then have 750 calories for lunch…
And another 750 calories for dinner.
Thats 2000 calories right there.
You’ve gone 500 calories over your target.
If you were to fast (not eat) until lunch time each day…
You’re more likely going to average 1500 per day…
Sticking within your calorie target and helping you to lose weight the right way.
Alternatively, if you don’t want to try fasting (personally I get too hangry) then just try to reduce the portion size of each meal to total 1500 calories.
So…
In summary…
Is fasting best for weight loss?
No!
But…
It can help some people stick within their calorie targets, which in turn helps to lose weight.
I hope this clears things up.

There’s no magic trick to weight loss… especially not calling ‘starving yourself’ a funny name like ‘fasting’ and making people think its some kind of science…
The science is calories in Vs. calories out.
And on that note…
I’m out.
Peace.
